A Carpenter’s Son – Farmhouse Renovation: Part 3
Our friends, Josh and Laura, over at A Carpenter’s Son Design Co. previously shared the beginning stages of renovating their 1800’s farmhouse. Josh started A Carpenter’s Son in 2015, solely as a platform to sell woodworking craft pieces and furniture to raise money for their upcoming domestic adoption. Working hard to use the woodworking business to offset the domestic adoption fees, their Etsy shop and Instagram following exploded. After successfully raising the funds to adopt into their family, the company is continuing to grow and build for a purpose. They continue to raise money for other families to adopt and families who have previously adopted.
Here’s a quick update to see how this farmhouse is coming to life with copper and fireclay sinks from Sinkology and a little love from this creative family!

The last you heard from us, we were preparing to move into our newly renovated farm house after living in a camper with our 4 sons during the summer of 2018. It has felt like luxury to be in a brand new house. Our Sinkology pieces make our whole house feel fancy!
We have lived in our farmhouse for the past six months. We still have some cosmetic touches to finish such as painting trim and a second coat of paint on the walls, but most of the work is done and we are loving it.
As with any family, our kitchen sink probably gets the most use. We have 4 young boys and they are always in the kitchen! We are drawn to the warmth the Rockwell copper farmhouse sink brings to the room, paired with blue cabinets and walnut open shelving and island by A Carpenter’s Son. The copper sink has been easy to care for as the patina naturally changes and blends back in with use. Our most asked question is the color of our cabinets- we used Newport Gray by Valspar.
The next most used sink is in our laundry room. We chose the Wilcox fireclay farmhouse in there because we love the clean white look of it along with our white washer and dryer. This sink is used as a hand washing station and utility sink. Early this spring we needed to move our new baby chicks inside when the temperature suddenly dropped below freezing and they spent the night in this sink! I knew it could withstand the mess and the heat lamp. Afterwards, it cleaned up easily and looks brand new again!
We are happy with the bathroom sinks that we chose as well and love the special touch they add to each room. After a long day of working in the woodshop or in the yard, our favorite way to relax is in our copper bath tub. Our master bathroom makes us feel like we are on a luxury retreat!
We are enamored with watching spring arrive and looking forward to many more years and memories in this house. Our hens are sitting on eggs we expect will be hatching anytime and everything around us is turning greener.
We have a thousand projects like any good homeowners do, and excited to get into some of the warmer weather ones like gardens, new animals, landscaping, and porch furniture. But the biggest victory for now is being safe and sound in our new (old) farmhouse.
