Holiday Pinspiration: New Year’s Eve Preview

Dec 2017

Sinkology is proud to present Kristan Allen, our design expert and guest blogger who runs the @FarmhouseRedefined Instagram. Kristan is here to share some design ideas and inspiration around designing your home around your Sinkology sink.

I know it’s hard to think of anything else right now except holiday cheer, red and green décor and Christmas gift shopping and wrapping. But believe it or not, New Year’s Eve will be here before we know it! Not that I’m trying to rush the season, but New Year’s Eve is always one of those occasions that gets a little lost for me. I’m so focused on Christmas prep that by the time NYE rolls around, I’m scrambling for fun ideas.

Not this year! I’ve spent the last few weeks gathering some of my favorite NYE inspiration on Pinterest and I wanted to share a few ideas below to help you celebrate.

Icebreaker Fun for Everyone

I don’t typically plan a lot of games during parties, but I love this idea from Party Delights! This printable party game prompts guests to share some of their highlights from the past year. My most embarrassing moment of the year? Being stranded on the side of the road after our rental RV blew two tires on our vacation from H-E-double hockey sticks. See how fun it is to think back on all the highlights? 😉 I’m planning to do this for New Year’s Eve, but I’m going to choose a few cards and tie them to the bottom of all my wine glasses. That way, people will remember which glass is theirs and they can share their highlights as they mingle.

Glitter, Glitter Everywhere

Don’t get me wrong…I love glitter. But it just doesn’t show up a lot in my usual décor. I’m changing that up this New Year’s Eve! I’ve already got plans for some glitter-ific mason jar centerpieces. I’m also planning on making a few of these glitter paper lanterns from Two Delighted. I think they’d look great hanging in clusters in front of a “2018” banner…photo opp, anyone?

Don’t Forget the Kids

I love planning parties for the whole family! I’ve got two young kiddos and most of our family and friends have kids of various ages, so I’m always looking for ways to make sure everyone has fun. While adults are busy toasting the New Year with their preferred cocktails, kids can join in the celebration with this cute cookie-and-milk mocktail idea from Pretty My Party. I’ve seen this done with glasses of milk and mini donuts placed on straws. Either way, I love it and wouldn’t mind toasting with these myself!

Pop, Fizz Clink…Champagne Always

Finally, what New Year’s Eve party is complete without champagne? Just when I thought champagne couldn’t get any better, Camille Styles served it up with rock candy stirrers. Whaaaaa?! Mind blown. I’ve actually tried this idea before and it’s amazing…so much fun and so, so easy. Win-win!

Speaking of champagne, I always try to create a special presentation when I serve it. Sinkology’s new copper ice bucket is perfect for showcasing your bottle (or bottles!) of bubbly while keeping it cold. It’s a great size and it’s affordable. Again with the win-win!
