My New Favorite Fireclay Sink!

When I began the process of designing my dream kitchen, I had two must-haves: a tile backsplash that went to the ceiling and a beautiful farmhouse style sink.
The tile required some shopping and samples before I found “the one” but the sink was a much easier decision for me.
I already knew the folks at Sinkology having met them a few years in a row at the Haven blogging conference. Having seen their sinks in person, I was confident that whatever style I chose, it would be perfect for my new kitchen.
Having researched a bit about farmhouse and apron front sinks, I knew that a fireclay sink was the way to go. They are durable, stain-resistant and chip resistant. Nobody needs to be babying their sink, so this was the way to go for me.
After looking through the choices online, I opted for the Turner Fireclay sink from the INSPIRED collection, plus the Pfister Stellen faucet in satin brass and matching drain kit. The all-in-one kit meant one less option for me to have to mull over, as the beautiful faucet would match the kitchen design perfectly.
Once my sink cabinet was finally installed, my contractor had the sink in-situ in no time at all. Mind you, it took 2 full grown men to lift it into place! That is one solid sink!
We’ve been using the sink for a few weeks now, and I love it even more than I thought I would. It’s huge! Even with the slightly shallower basin than some of the farmhouse sinks. The Pfister faucet is so powerful, that it instantly pushes all crumbs and other food bits down the drain, making keeping the sink clean an absolute breeze.
I will say that you definitely need a pull down hose on the faucet if you’re planning on having a large sink like this, otherwise all the food will get stuck to the corners. We had that issue with our last sink and it was so annoying to clean. I’ve had no problems with our new faucet that easily reaches all the corners.
Having only had stainless steel sinks in the past, I made sure to get a bottom grid for the sink, for fear of placing something in too hard or quickly and breaking it. The grid has been great and I definitely recommend getting it as part of your package.
I think this photo is my favorite shot of the entire kitchen. The sink with the pretty faucet, and the picture window surrounded by tile. Everyone that has come to see our new kitchen comments on our “new” window. But it’s actually the same window that has always been here! The bright white sink and marble tile around it just make the view picture perfect!
If you’ve been trying to decide whether to get an apron front sink, I highly recommend the Turner farmhouse sink. It’s a beautiful and functional addition to any style of kitchen, whether you’re more into modern, traditional or farmhouse style.
