The Thales Copper Bathtub: Designing with Copper in Mind – Part 2
If you want to make a statement in your bathroom, there’s no better way to do it than a freestanding copper bathtub. We hear from customers all the time that the first reaction people have to their redesigned kitchen or bathroom is “where did you get that copper sink?” From our big and in-your-face farmhouse sinks to our impressive bathroom vessel sinks, we design all of our copper sinks to be, not only practical, but statement-making. We take that same philosophy when it comes to designing our copper bathtubs. From our clawfoot tub (the Heisenberg) to our large, two-person bathtub (the Euclid), our tubs are hand-crafted and designed to be impressive.
For smaller bathrooms or bathrooms with minimal room for tub, we designed the Thales copper bathtub. This single-person freestanding copper tub is built to be versatile and fit almost any size full bathroom. Don’t be fooled by it’s 60-inch length though; its personality is big enough and bold enough to make a statement in even the largest bathrooms, too. Versatility is also demonstrated by it’s innovative faucet deck, which comes in 2-hole, 3-hole, and no-hole options.
In this particular bathroom design, we focused on a modern city loft feel and wanted to demonstrate how to wrap your room design around a copper bathtub. With exposed brick walls and a concrete floor, this bathroom design is a plumbing challenge, but has a beautiful payoff.
The Thales Copper Bathtub
The Thales tub is handmade from 14-gauge pure, solid copper and is carefully coated with a durable finish that will ensure your copper bathtub looks beautiful for a lifetime. Sinkology copper bathtubs are skillfully hand-hammered and carefully finished by our team of skilled coppersmiths in our workshop; and each bathtub is inspected and tested multiple times to ensure no leaks and perfect performance – not to mention that they come with a lifetime warranty. The quality is there, and the beauty is obvious.
The Faucet and Tub Accessories
The faucet we selected to pair with this tub is a beautiful roman tub faucet from Pfister. This particular faucet comes in a rustic bronze finish and pairs perfectly with the copper bathtub and other accessories. The vintage feel of this faucet (with the water pump style handles) mixes perfectly with the old brick and aged wood. It’s a perfect bridge between old world and modern, as it marries the design with the modern functionality and features.
The overflow and drain come conveniently packaged together in a kit from Sinkology. Both the drain and overflow grid come in a bronze finish that perfectly matches the tub and the faucet.
The Decor
The exposed brick and concrete floors are beautiful features found in reconditioned warehouses or factories that have been transformed into living spaces. This bathroom set up would be perfect in a downtown townhouse or condo. Accenting the space with a mix of modern eclectic design elements and some vintage items brings modern living and old world together.
If storage space in your bathroom is an issue, consider using old wine or fruit crates to store your bath towels, washcloths, and hand towels. Don’t forget to accent your bathroom with green plants to bring in a comforting spa feel. Small succulents are a great, hardy addition to your bath space. And if you’re going to have a drink during your soak, don’t forget to grab a couple Sinkology copper mugs.
Now through July 3, 2017, you can save up to $300 on the Thales at the Home Depot. The Thales tub comes with a reinforced faucet deck that can be optioned to have no faucet holes, 2 holes, or 3 holes – depending on the type of faucet you need.
