The David: Designing with the Sink in Mind

Sep 2016

The David is a new and innovative addition to our Chef Series of kitchen copper sinks. The Chef Series is a high-end line of luxury sinks from Sinkology that offer advanced features for the home chef. With tighter corners and a deeper sink basin, the David features a larger bowl to give you more work space and to accommodate larger pots and pans. Additionally, the rear off-set drain allows you to stack dishes on one side and still access the full drain on the other. It’s also great for washing long items like cookie sheets. The David is made from 16-gauge ultra pure copper and, just like all Sinkology copper sinks, it comes with a lifetime warranty.

For this newly designed sink, we imagined a fresh and modern kitchen to accentuate the color and shine of this copper sink. With blues making a huge comeback in all areas of the house, we created a design palette of whites, dark blues, and of course, copper, for this modern kitchen.

Starting with the floor, instead of choosing just plain tile or plank flooring, check out all the amazing patterns that are making their way into floor design. We chose a gorgeous Moroccan-inspired blue and white pattern that would look fantastic in any kitchen, large or small. Just adding a Moroccan or a Kilim rug to an already existing floor can give your kitchen the facelift update to bring it into the modern era.

Don’t be afraid to add fun hardware to give your kitchen little unique details without going over the top. Eccentric hardware can liven up white cabinets with these pulls from Home Depot and World Market. Choosing a solid subway tile, with white or dark grout, will make your kitchen feel modern, streamlined, and clean. There are lots of subway tile patterns currently on the market, so don’t feel stuck with just horizontal! For the paint, choosing any shade of blue, but especially a dark or richer blue, will make your copper sink pop. Two-tone kitchens look modern yet warm and inviting, and choosing blues and whites are a perfect way to achieve that. Finishing off your space with light switch covers that perfectly match your copper sink is the perfect way to round off your design, and pull copper through other design elements in your room.

The drain, from Sinkology, is designed to perfectly match your copper sink. In addition, we have partnered with Pfister to bring you recommended faucets with finishes that take the guesswork out of matching your accessories with your copper sink. This rustic bronze finished faucet was hand selected by our team.
