Thanksgiving: Designing with Copper in Mind

Nov 2015

Decorating for the holidays is part of all the hustle and bustle fun, right? For some of us it can be! For those of you that need a little bit more inspiration this season, we at Sinkology have come up with a look for the holidays to help you tie in copper beyond just your sinks.

Lucky for you, copper is huge this season. You don’t have to go far to find great metal and copper accents to fill your tables and spaces with gorgeous and trendy looks. So first, decide what type of look you want for your holidays, is your house is more of the rustic, warm farmhouse or more of a contemporary and classic look? From there, the sky is the limit. For our Thanksgiving spread, we chose a more modern look by mixing in metals with black accents.

We started by pulling in smaller accents of metals in the napkin rings, straws, and table runner, making your eating space a little less cluttered so that all that amazing cooking can be the star of the show. Adding some fun metal centerpieces adds a unique aesthetic to your table, without overdoing it. We pulled in bigger copper pieces like the copper mugs for after dinner (or during, of course) drinks for your guests. These are always a crowd pleaser. They’re unique but also and sturdy, so you don’t have to stress about breaking all that great glassware if Aunt Diane has one too many.

Also, for your entertaining in your kitchen beyond the dinner setting, use copper candles and small copper plates to draw in the warmth but accentuate your beautiful copper sink – in this case, we are showing the double-bowl kitchen copper sink, the Kandinsky. If your family is anything like ours, we all stand in the kitchen for hours on Thanksgiving. This is a chance to show off your new favorite item in your kitchen, while demonstration the versatility of copper through your room design. And while all your guests are helping you clean, your rustic bronze pull-down faucet from Pfister will make clean-up that much easier, too. (That’s your line when your sister is just leaning and not cleaning.)

Need some copper trivia to have in your back pocket when your mother-in-law questions your decor choices? We’ve got your back. Your Kandinsky copper sink will not only wow your guest, but it will also make you look really, really smart. Good on you.

Our team will be bringing more styles and design inspirations for more of our unique and handmade sinks. For more ideas on how to style your rooms around your nickel or copper sinks, check out our Pinterest page.
