Bathroom Trend Forecasting: 2019
This is still the perfect time to reflect and reset in every area of your life. Yes, including your bathroom. If you’ve been stuck in your old ways since the start of the new millennium, resolve to try (at least) one of our Top 5 Bathroom Trends we’re obsessing over for 2019.
1. Bare it all.
From open air showers to freestanding tubs, the bathroom of 2019 is breaking down barriers for a truly freeing vibe. From romantically ornate to effortlessly minimalistic, this trend is easily adoptable in any aesthetic. If you don’t have the space to transform your bathing area, upgrade your fixtures. We’re seeing exposed plumbing in antique and modern homes alike, and, of course, loving it all.
2. Make a statement.
Bathrooms are often overlooked, taking a backseat to larger rooms in the home. But we all know it’s one of the most highly trafficked rooms. So don’t be shy…express yourself! Think high-contrast colors and textures. But even more eye catching than a large-scale wallpapered accent wall is the growing-in-popularity colored washbasins, seen in a range of gorgeous shades.
3. Soften.
Designers are making a subtler statement by transforming the average bath into a spa-like oasis. Neutrals are a beloved classic that create a fresh-and-clean look. But now, metals are coated in smooth white finishes that blend well with other monochromatic elements. Our favorite? Floor-to-ceiling wood.
4. Strengthen.
In contrast, designers are adding sturdy beauty to the bath area. The addition of concrete to sinks, countertops and floors pairs perfectly with our new favorite finish: matte black. But the best part about this trend is that it’s the most DIY-friendly.
5. Innovate.
As with any other room in the 2019 home, the bathroom has seen an insurgence of innovation. (Anyone else remember being threatened to NEVER take an electronic in close proximity to a steamy shower?) Well, tech is everywhere now. From high-tech toilets to wall-mounted screens, our favorite gadgets are coming standard and built-in. While we prefer to take a tech detox in our powder room sanctuary, we love the luxurious addition of mini fridges for our medicines and personal care products, underfloor heating systems for our freshly showered feet and warming drawers for our fluffy robes.
