Decorating for Spring with Copper

Mar 2017

Sinkology is proud to present Kendra Williams, a home decor expert, DIYer, furniture refinisher, and busy mom as a guest blogger. Kendra runs the blog at Momtique and she is here to share some design ideas and inspiration around designing your home with copper and around your copper sink.

Springtime is here and I am one happy girl!!! I love the weather, I love the blooming flowers, and I especially love springtime decor. Honestly, as soon as the Christmas season is over, I can’t wait to decorate for spring. Some people transition into winter style decor after Christmas, but I like to transition right into spring.

My house is small so decorating when a new season comes isn’t an overwhelming task. Even if your home is large and decorating for each season seems daunting, you can do it.  Don’t feel like you need to decorate your entire home all at once. Start with one room or one section of a room. If you don’t know where to begin, start with decorating your main living space, kitchen, or the room that you and your family and friends spend the most time in. Try incorporating colors the remind you of spring.  For me, the colors that make me think of this beautiful season are blue, green, and of course a little touch of copper.  Also, don’t feel that you need to change everything in the room.  I always like to think that less is more when it comes to seasonal decor.  I don’t want my house looking like a home decor store with spring theme items from top to bottom. I want it to look natural and true to my style.

Copper accents can look beautiful when decorating for any season.  I love decorating with vintage copper. I found these copper pitchers at a local vintage market. I was so excited to use them for my spring decor and add them to my amazing copper collection.

Here is my spring time decor in our main living space.

Spring is a time for freshness: fresh flowers, fresh new growth, fresh baby bunnies, and fresh, clean home. This is the time of year to schedule that dreaded Spring cleaning. When you’re digging in to the cleaning and minimizing by throwing out old stuff, it’s the perfect time to make your space fresh with a redesign. Whether it’s your bathroom, kitchen, or living room, before you’ve got it torn apart for the deep clean, think about how you’re going to put it back together. You’ll be surprised at how different a room can feel by rearranging the furniture, placing a few strategic accents, or including a few DIY touches with crafts. Don’t forget those copper accents to complement your copper sink! For some DIY Craft ideas and other design tips, be sure to check out the rest of the Sinkology blog. Especially last week’s post, which covered Spring Decorating with the Pantone Color of the Year.
