Planning An RV Makeover

Oct 2018

Sinkology is proud to present Ashley Carpenter, a homebody, decor obsessed, DIYer that loves fitness, happy people and wants nothing more than to be on the lake soaking up the sun with good people and good music. Ashley runs the blog Joyfully Growing and is here to share a few tips, tricks and DIY projects that perfectly fit her farmhouse style.

We recently purchased an RV and have been busy remodeling it to turn it into our full time living space. I’m happy to say that demo is finally done and now it’s time for the fun part!

Now that the entire interior has been painted and floors are installed, I can finally start thinking about designing and decorating!

All along I’ve had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted the inside of our new home on wheels to look like and I can’t wait to walk you through some of my design choices.

 So let’s dive in!

RV Makeover – The Plan

After gutting the entire thing and coming up with a layout that works best for our needs, we are excited to start putting all of the pieces back together. Since we are essentially starting with a blank slate, it’s been a lot of fun coming up with a design theme for our RV.

We started off by painting every square inch in a bright, yet cozy, shade of white. Sherwin Williams Alabaster to be exact. When dealing with a small area, choosing a light paint color really helps to make the space feel open and airy.

With that said, here is the design plan we came up with for our RV makeover:

To bring in warmth, we decided to go with butcher block countertops and copper accents. We’ve never had butcher block countertops before and are excited to try them out in the RV!

We’ve already ordered the Monet Farmhouse Apron Copper sink from Sinkology and I love how it contrasts against the bright white walls and cabinets. We LOVED our fireclay farmhouse sink that we installed in our budget kitchen makeover, but wanted to try out Sinkology’s famous copper sinks this time around.

I’ll keep you posted on which one ends up being our favorite, although I have a feeling it might be a tie. 😉

We also plan to bring in some fun wood designs (like the geometric piece I included in the moodboard) as accent walls and/or backsplash. If you know me and my wood accent wall obsession, that shouldn’t be a surprise at all! 😉

Lastly, I am planning on incorporating lots of texture and greenery to keep the space feeling warm and welcoming.

After doing some precise measuring and crossing of fingers, we were able to map out a layout that will allow us to squeeze in our giant leather sofa. This is one of our very favorite purchases and I’m so excited about being able to use it as our main seating in the living area!

I’ll be cozy-ing it up with lots of rugs, woven baskets, ottomans and throws.

 So that’s the plan!

This RV makeover has been such a whirlwind of a project, and I am beyond excited to see how it turns out! Make sure you’re following along over on Instagram where I’m sharing daily updates and behind-the-scenes sneak peeks!
