The Sisley: Designing with the Sink in Mind

May 2016

Sinkology not only creates unique and handmade nickel and copper sinks for your kitchen and bath, but we also hand-make copper bar and prep sinks. A bar sink is a perfect way to tie in copper sinks throughout your entire home design. Our newest copper bar and prep sink is the Sisley. The Sisley is a functional, yet luxurious bar and prep copper sink designed for every day living. Made to be the perfect size for any kitchen or bar design and provides ideal functionality. Handmade from 16-gauge pure, solid copper with an antique copper finish, this sink is designed to last a lifetime and is protected by a lifetime warranty. The Sisley copper sink is the perfect addition to any home bar to make a really impression at your next happy hour!

When we started to think about designing a space around the Sisley, we were inspired by the copper mugs for the classic Moscow mule – a cocktail standard in the U.S. since the 1940’s. And since Spring is here and Summer isn’t far behind, we decided to make this space the perfect gathering spot for friends and family during a barbecue or a happy hour.

Designing from the sink outward, we chose colors, fabrics and materials that would complement, not overpower, your beautiful new bar sink. We chose this Pfister faucet in a Rustic Bronze finish to complete your perfect bar sink. We also chose white solid surface countertops to inspire that bar and prep area feel that keeps the space feeling clean and crisp. These placemats from Target would be perfect to place on your bar so your guests feel even more pampered while in your home oasis. Picking pieces and fabrics, like these placemats, are a quick and easy way to change the mood of your space from season to season. Gray wainscoting brings in a cooling effect while staying consistent with your rustic and homey feel. We chose these beautiful intricate light switch covers and drawer pulls from Lowes to complement the copper tones throughout the bar space, and soften the area with a little flair.

Top off your room with small natural accents, like this flower pot from Ikea. Also, copper accessories are easy to find this season, so grab some copper mugs and shakers from Target to complete your bar.

The Sisley bar sink can also be used as the perfectly-sized prep sink for your at home sous-chef. With a 3.5″ drain opening, you can attach a garbage disposal to get rid of all the trimmings from your fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s perfect for prepping those grilling veggies for your next backbard barbeque.

If you are mixing up some fancy Moscow Mules for a summer get-together, here’s a handy recipe with tips on crafting the perfect concoction.
